Mark Watkins and Rod Ort led the sprints to the green flag with Watkins taking the lead, with Ort second and the 12s of Billy Jones Jr. and Roger Irvine a close third and fourth. The race came to a halt on lap six when Reed Thompson collected the tire barrier in turn two and flipped onto the track. He was not hurt.
When the race restarted it was Ort making the pass on Watkins to take the lead and the front two were pulling away, but on lap 15 the duo began to encounter lapped traffic and Jones and Irvine were closing in. A few more cautions slowed the race with Ort still setting the pace, but on lap 28 Watkins make slight contact with Ort going into the first turn, that send Ort high and Watkins made the winning pass under him to get the win. Ort held on to second, Jones had his career best finish in third with Irvine and Nathan Gramley completing the top five. Heat wins were split between Jim Kennedy, Billy Jones Jr.
and Rod Ort.
