On the eve of Micro Sprint Speed Week many new faces were in attendance to get tuned up for the weeklong event. And with a rain shower hitting the speedway just as warm-ups began, the night was very similar to last year?s Speed Week event. Fortunately, this shower didn?t bring quite as much rain as last year, and the show was delayed just less than two hours.
After a botched attempt at the initial start sent the front row to the back of the field Ben Naugle inherited the pole position. Naugle beat Tim Damiani on the start to take the lead. Naugle continued to pull away from Damiani, leading by nearly half a lap until he caught the back of the pack. Naugle showed patience, carefully putting cars a lap down as the opportunity presented. The big lead was completely negated by the only caution of the event with two laps to go. On the restart Naugle pulled away to earn his first ever career win in the
305 Sprint cars. Damiani struggled the finally two laps, dropping from second to fifth at the finish. Todd Spangler finished second, ahead of Mark Watkins and Logan Wagner. Heat race wins went to Tyler Bear and Damiani.
