Jeff Taylor Scores RaceSaver Nationals WinNewsPhoto

A stellar field of RaceSaver sprints made the trip to Fork Mountain
Raceway for the thirteenth annual Nationals and it was a great show all
through the weekend. Friday night time trials set the heat race line
ups with Ray Evernham taking home the Bobby Harris memorial fast time
trophy. Saturday night heats were up first with Tony Harris, Satch
Worley and Steve Kenawell taking those. The Brodix dash for the top
nine from heat races was up next setting the Nationals starting grid
was won by Ray Evernham. Tom Worrick and Jeff Taylor were on the front
row as the field took the green. As the green waved they went at it
right away with Taylor inches ahead at the line in eary going. They
entered traffic quickly on the short track with Worrick hounding him
lap after lap but they quickly joined by Evernham and Brian Lawson and
Jerald Harris. The laps clicked off with Taylor riding the cushion and
everybody taking a crack at him. Worrick and Evernham would have to hit
pit road for repairs leaving Lawson, J. Harris to pressure Taylor.
Before you knew it they were counting down to the finish with Taylor
still staying the course racing through traffic with Harris chasing and
the others staying close. Mark Watkins and Darren Bolac joined the
front pack with a few to go but Jeff Taylor didn't change what was
working and flashed under the checkered flag for his first RaceSaver
Nationals win. For his win Jeff got the Paul White Memorial trophy and
the traditional Nationals clock and winners jacket. At the line it was
Jeff Taylor, Jerald Harris, Mark Watkins, Darren Bolac, Brian Lawson,
Steve Kenawell, Ray Evernham, Robbie Bartchey, Anthony Linkenhoker,
Glenn Worrell, Greg Barchey, Tom Worrick, Brian Morgan, Billy Norfleet,
Chris Ware, John Snead, Ivan Shaver, Tony Harris, Justin Zapp, Charlie
Ware, Ryan Lynn, Bill Rice, Erin Statler, Tom Humphries, Satch Wroley,
Carl Simmonds, Donnie Rodeffer, Kyle Reinhardt and Drake Moore.

The next race for the Virginia Sprint Series will be a pavement show at
Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas, Va. on Saturday night September 17th.
