After two straight rainouts, Path Valley Speedway was missed by the rain showers Friday night long enough to get the six-division program in the books. The car count was good, as many teams were tuning up for the big races next weekend.
Most of the excitement of the 305 Sprint Car feature occurred in a half of a lap on lap fourteen. Pole-sitter Craig Robinson was leading Chad Myers down the backstretch as they closed in on the tail of the field. Myers attempted to get inside of Robinson as they entered turn three. They made contact, which resulted in both drivers sliding up the banking. As they were trying to regain control, Mike Freet, drove by on the inside and into the lead. That wasn’t the end of the excitement for lap fourteen. On the front stretch Von McGee made heavy contact with the outside guardrail, causing him to flip. Fortunately, McGee walked away from the accident. After the red flag, Freet went on to take the win by five car lengths over Robinson. Randy Kaylor past more cars than anybody else in the 305 Sprint Car feature, coming from eighth to finish third. Myers followed in fourth and Michael Heckman came home fifth. Heat wins went to George Riden and McGee.
