Path Valley Speedway closed out the 2006 racing season on Friday, October 13th. All eight divisions that race on Friday nights were on the card.
The cold temperatures kept some teams away, yet 98 drivers were on hand for the finale.
“Cowboy” Jim Kennedy, of Everett, PA, claimed his first ever win at Path Valley in the 305 Sprint Car feature. Kennedy started on the outside of the front row and wrestled the lead away from Mike Freet on the backstretch. The only caution of the race came on lap fifteen when slight contact with another racer turned Michael Heckman the wrong way in turn three. When they went back to green Kennedy pulled away from Wes Zimmerman to win by nearly a full straightaway. Zimmerman had started sixth, but took the runner-up position on the restart. Freet held on to third, Randy Kaylor was fourth, and Michael Heckman recovered from the spin to claim fifth. Craig Robinson took the heat win.
Thus ended the 2006 racing season at Path Valley Speedway. The point champions will be crowned at the annual awards banquet on November 18th. Tickets are still available. To order tickets, you can send an email to the link posted at www.pathvalley.com.
The track management wishes to thank everyone who came to Path Valley Speedway in 2006, including the fans, drivers, crew members, car owners, and sponsors. Plans are already underway for the 2007 schedule, which will be released in January.
